The HWB Fellowship Awards were initiated in honour of the late Dr. Robert Farvolden (1928 – 1995) who was a pioneer of hydrogeology and helped initiate the first CARA hydrogeology masters program at the University of Costa Rica. THWB Fellowship Awards are for hydrogeology graduate students in programs in developing countries. Awardees are selected in November by a five-person HWB Technical Committee made up of Dr. Stephen Foster (U.K.), Dr. Ricardo Hirata (Brazil), Dr. Antonio Chambel (Portugal), Dr. Dave Kreamer (U.S.) and Dr. Ramon Aravena (Canada).
The HWB Fellowship Awards have been established to financially support those students who have been accepted into an approved MSc Hydrogeology program that is delivered in developing countries. The intention is to encourage the delivery of hydrogeology graduate programs in developing countries.
